A Daring Adventure

“I definitely relate a lot to the hardships, shame, and spiritual struggles the main character [in The Tournament’s Price] had to go through. And I want to say thank you Given for writing this. It has helped me through some of those questions we all have about heartache and loss, and also how to truly deal with it. Her biblical answers to why bad things happen to good people and how we deal with that in our own lives is so beautiful and well thought out.”

I Wish There Were More Books Like This

“[The Rebel’s Mark] continues the story of Prince Gage as he wrestles with the position he was born into and the responsibilities that come with it. He also wrestles with his belief (or disbelief) in God because of difficult things that have happened in his life… I wish there were more clean, young adult adventure stories with Christian themes like this. My fifteen-year-old son finished this book in about a day. ”

Vivid, White-Knuckle Action

“The Tournament’s Price brings all the beauty and darkness—all the pageantry and all the mud—of the medieval period to life. Deep dive into the colorful and heart-wrenching world of a royal second son struggling with loss and faith. A must-read for fans of realistic medieval action.”

James R. Hannibal, award-winning author of Lightraiders (August 29, 2023)

An Entertaining, Clean Read

“[The Eighth Ransom is] an entertaining, clean read aimed at teenaged readers (but something their dads will enjoy as well!). … there are also discussions and internal dialogues among [the characters] of some weighty topics: life, creation, anger, child-parent relationships, selfishness, salvation, and more. The conclusions reached are supported by scripture. As these discussions and thoughts take place, we learn a lot about the eight main characters, revealing them to be what we all are: complex, fallen people with often contradictory thoughts, in need of grace, love, and friendship. And we grow to like and care about them.”

Gripping YA Story

What truly sets The Eighth Ransom apart is its solid Christian worldview. Hoffman weaves faith and moral conviction into the narrative, offering a clean yet powerful story that resonates on a deeper level. Themes of trust, courage, and redemption shine through, making this more than just an exciting read—it’s an inspiring one.…Hoffman has crafted a novel that will keep readers turning pages while also leaving them with something to ponder.”

Jeremiah Friedli, author of CORE: Deception (Jan 29, 2025)

Amazingly, Well Written Book

“The Rebel’s Mark is truly a unique book. Rarely, if ever, have I found such a riveting, well-written story in which the author weaves issues of life and faith seamlessly with strong characters and solid structure. In many scenes, it was as if I was actually there with them. I felt what they felt and saw what they saw. I was left pondering the story and it’s underlying questions. I found myself wanting to go back and re-read sections (which is really rare for me.) Overall, I believe that I am better for reading this book. Given’s writing is a challenge to modern day Young Adult fiction to put meaning back into our words and depth into our stories. She shows that not only can it be done, but that it can be done without sacrificing action, intrigue, or suspense.”
